ethical life changes pt. 2
i like this being an ongoing journal of things i've been keeping up with and new changes i've made.
switched to linux mint!
this is the newest development. once i learn ricing it's over for you fools.
i've sacrificed photoshop in the process but i think that's been the only casualty of switching over to linux. otherwise, i've managed to get the games and software i need or find the open-source alternative.
switched to proton mail
my email is one of the few dependencies on google i have, so i've been slowly replacing my primary gmail with my new proton email. have tried to make it more anonymous and been switching a lot of accounts over to this new email and its greaaaat. i also depend heavily on the proton calendar which is on par with google one, so it's nice to have an actual private digital calendar.
replaced notion with anytype
it took me some getting used to but i have migrated my little notes system over to anytype and cleaned up a lot of the messiness i had in notion. it's a lot more private with no ai.
ripping music from cds and supporting bands thru bandcamp
this is an extension of having an mp3. i get to support bands orrrrr use other means to listen to music (especially from artists i don't respect).
living a more sustainable and communal lifestyle at home
one night a week i cook dinner for the house and they do the same. also no longer using tissues anymore, we're a household of cloth, washing machines and investing in sustainable products.
downloading media i like and want to preserve
so far that's been a lot of wwe matches and youtube video essays that made me cry. eventually, i'd like to put all of this on cds and dvds.
quitting redbull
drank so much my liver started hurting so no more of that.
updates
muay thai
been going a lot more often and feeling myself getting better. this is the most consistent i've been with going and i'm proud of myself.
film cam + photo album shenanigans
need to get a real photo album for myself, but i have one for me and my lover and it's been very cute. recently got my hands on expired film for free so i'm excited to shoot that.
what's next
homemade laundry detergent this just seems easy to do and would probably save my clothes and bank account.
reuse before recycle would be nice to reduce how much trash i produce. i looked into ecobricks for a hot minute but i don't think there's anything i could feasibly do with that at the moment.
